On 19 August 2026, a backlink scan of storyshort.ai counted 485 referring domains pointing at roughly 60,521 indexed pages, with 78 percent of a 554-link sample flagged as purchased. That site is one of nineteen faceless-video tools we measured across traffic, page architecture and link profiles between 18 and 23 August 2026. This article uses those measurements to answer when a faceless channel or tool business sells for real money, and when it does not.

The short answer

A faceless asset sells when its value survives the handover: documented traffic sources, clean link history, and revenue that does not depend on one person's voice or face. It fails to sell when growth came from bought links, because buyers discount that to zero once they see it. In our August 2026 sample of nineteen competitor sites, the ones with high spam scores in their backlink profiles were absent from commercial search results, while low-spam sites held top positions. Buyers read the same signals you do.

What a buyer actually checks

A buyer of a faceless channel or a small video-tool site runs three checks before talking price.

First, traffic composition. Similarweb's public data layer, which we pulled on 18 August 2026, splits visits into organic search, direct, referral, paid search, social and AI referral. Organic share above 40 percent reads as durable; paid-heavy traffic reads as rented. In our sample, invideo.io showed 47.8 percent organic at 6,846,906 monthly visits, while hooked.so showed 63.0 percent organic at 110,170 visits. Both patterns are sellable, but they price differently: the first sells scale, the second sells efficiency.

Second, link integrity. We scanned backlink profiles on 19 August 2026. Sites with spam scores of 76 to 86, including storyshort.ai at 79 and short.ai at 76, were missing from the first twelve results on fourteen of fifteen tested commercial queries. Sites with spam scores of 4 to 6, including medeo.app and vicsee.com, held first-page positions on their head terms. A buyer who sees 430 purchased links out of a 554-link sample will either walk away or reprice hard.

Third, whether the content machine transfers. If every video depends on your voice recording, the buyer buys a job, not an asset. If production is scripted, sourced and repeatable without you, the multiple improves.

Traffic per page: the efficiency table

Page count alone tells a buyer nothing. Visits per indexed page tells them whether the library works. The table below comes from Similarweb July 2026 snapshots divided by sitemap counts, measured 18 August 2026. Treat these as comparison figures between sites, not absolute measurements; small-site estimates carry wide error margins.

SiteMonthly visitsPagesVisits per page
autoshorts.ai269,7802411,241
tubegen.ai83,024721153

vicsee.com45,896163428
storyshort.ai161,345~60,5002.7

The spread is the finding. Autoshorts.ai earns 11,241 visits per page from 24 pages. Storyshort.ai spreads 161,345 visits across about 60,500 URLs, most of them templated category pages in five languages, and earns 2.7 visits per page. A buyer valuing storyshort.ai on traffic alone ignores that most of its index contributes almost nothing, and may treat the bulk of it as a liability rather than an asset. If you are building to sell, a smaller index that actually ranks beats a large one that does not.

When selling makes sense

Sell when three conditions hold at once, based on what the measurements reward.

One, your traffic mix is verifiable. If organic search supplies half your visits, as it does for vidiq.com at 17.3 percent and revid.ai at 43.3 percent in the same snapshot, a buyer can model what happens after acquisition. Two, your link profile is clean enough to survive audit. Vicsee.com reached first position for "faceless video generator" with 627 clean links, 94.6 percent of which point at the homepage, and zero advertising budget. That is a profile a buyer can inherit. Three, your production cost per output is known and stable. We have not measured resale multiples for this category, so we cannot tell you what x-times-revenue figure to expect; brokers set that per deal.

If any of the three fails, fix it before listing. Buying links late in the game shows up exactly the way it showed up in our sample: high spam score, then disappearance from commercial queries.

What this does not tell you

We have not measured sale prices, broker listings or completed acquisitions in this category, so this article gives no valuation multiple and no revenue benchmark for deals. The Similarweb figures are public-data estimates for comparison between sites, not audited analytics; for small sites the error margins are wide, and a single month can mislead. The backlink sample covers 554 links per site, not the full profile, so purchased-link percentages are sampling ratios, not exact counts. Search rankings were checked from one location at one point in time. And none of these numbers predict how YouTube itself will treat a transferred channel, which depends on platform policy we did not measure.

Frequently asked questions

Does buying backlinks help a channel sell faster? In our 19 August 2026 measurement, no. Sites with spam scores of 56 to 86 were absent from head commercial keywords, while sites scoring 4 to 6 ranked first or third on theirs. Purchased links inflate the link count a seller quotes, but buyers run the same scans and discount them. Clean profiles priced better than large dirty ones.

Is a big page count an asset when selling? Only if the pages earn traffic. Storyshort.ai holds about 60,521 URLs against 161,345 monthly visits, roughly 2.7 visits per page as of July 2026. Autoshorts.ai holds 24 pages against 269,780 visits. A buyer values the second pattern higher per page, because most of the first site's index adds maintenance cost without ranking.

What traffic source do buyers trust most? Organic search, because it persists after ownership changes. In the July 2026 snapshot, organic shares ranged from 17.3 percent at vidiq.com to 64.6 percent at vicsee.com among the nineteen sites we compared. Direct and referral traffic tied to a personal brand transfers poorly. Paid traffic stops the day the budget stops, so buyers treat it as worth little.

How should I prepare a faceless channel for sale before listing? Document what the measurements reward: export your analytics, list your traffic sources with percentages, and audit your own backlink profile for purchased links. Make production independent of your voice by writing down the script, sourcing and captioning process. We built ViewMade around that principle: each render ships with a media credits file naming the archive source of every clip, so the output stays verifiable after a handover.
