On 23 August 2026 we pulled the pricing pages of 24 AI video tools over plain HTTP, without executing any JavaScript. 17 pages returned readable text and 7 did not. None of the 17 readable pages offered a lifetime deal.
The short answer
As of 23 August 2026, no AI video tool among the 17 pricing pages we could read sells a lifetime license. The closest thing on offer is annual billing, where the yearly rate sits below the monthly rate on every page that shows both. The largest stated gap in our set is ViewMade's Pro plan: $59 monthly against a yearly equivalent of $29.5 per month, a 50 percent reduction. If a seller promises "pay once, keep forever" in this category, that promise did not appear on any page we could verify, and we treat unverifiable promises as absent.
Why the category defaults to recurring billing
Every product in this set renders video on the seller's infrastructure. Rendering costs money each time, so a one-time payment creates a fixed revenue line against an open-ended cost line. That is a structural reason, not a measured fact, and we flag it as such: nothing in our data proves why sellers avoid lifetime pricing, it only shows that they avoid it. What the data does show is the shape of the alternative. Sellers who do commit to a longer term discount heavily: ViewMade's Pro yearly total is $354, which the page itself states equals half the monthly rate. Descript states a 35 percent annual discount outright. Where sellers cannot or will not discount, they hide the comparison instead, which is the subject of a later section.
Monthly versus annual, where both are visible
The table below lists every tool whose pricing page showed both a monthly rate and an annual rate in the same read, on 23 August 2026. Rates come straight off each page; where a page labels its own unit, we repeat that label.
| Tool | Plan | Monthly | Annual | Notes from the page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Descript | Hobbyist | $24 | $16 per month | Page states 35% annual discount |
| Descript | Creator | $35 | $24 per month | |
| Descript | Business | $65 | $50 per month | |
| HeyGen | Creator | $29 | $24 per month | Page states this openly |
| Pictory | Starter | $29 | $25 per month | Page title: "From $25 per Month" |
| Pictory | Professional | $59 | $35 per month | |
| Fluxnote | Rise | $10 | $8.33 per month | Yearly total $100 |
| Fluxnote | Pro | $20 | $16.67 per month | Yearly total $200 |
| Quso | Lite | $29 | $19 per month | Formerly Vidyo.ai |
| Quso | Essential | $39 | $26 per month | |
| Quso | Growth | $49 | $33 per month | Yearly billing doubles the credit allowance |
| Faceless.so | Starter | $29 | $24 per month | Yearly total $290 |
| Vicsee | Starter | $15 | $10 per month | Yearly total $120 |
| Vicsee | Pro | $29 | $15 per month | Yearly total $180 |
Three pages publish annual-only rates, meaning there is no monthly option to compare: Short.ai at $19, $30 and $60 per month billed yearly, and Klap at $14, $39 and $94 per month billed yearly. Crayo shows only annual-billing equivalents: $13, $27 and $55 per month, with yearly totals of $160, $327 and $664. One entry deserves its own warning. Medeo's Pro plan displays $28 per month next to a yearly total of $314, and $314 divided over twelve months is $26.17. Both figures appear on the same page and they disagree. We report both rather than picking the flattering one.
The pages that hide their prices
7 of the 24 pages did not return usable prices from the server. For StoryShort, AutoShorts, CapCut, Hooked, VEED, Vizard and Fliki, the tiers render only after JavaScript runs, so we mark them "not published in a readable form". One partial exception: StoryShort's tier prices of $39, $69, $129 and $199 are known from TrustMRR, verified against Stripe, measured on 18 August 2026, but that is a third-party source, not StoryShort's own pricing page. Two pages returned text but no answer. Submagic's page shows two columns per plan, a base plan and a "+ MAGIC CLIPS" variant, and we could not determine in one pass which figure was monthly and which annual, so we decline to print either. Fliki's page returns plan names and credit counts but no dollar amounts. Vizard's page processed every tier as $0 server-side because the real price depends on a slider that only computes client-side; the one verifiable fact is its own definition of a free-tier credit: 1 credit equals 1 minute of uploaded video, 60 credits per month.
If you are comparing tools right now, this matters more than any headline discount. A price you cannot read without a browser session is a price the seller controls at render time, and two of the three worst cases in our set sit behind exactly that wall.
What to do with this if you are about to pay
First, check whether the number you saw was annual. Four pages in our set default to showing the yearly rate: Crayo, Short.ai, Klap and Faceless.so. If you assume you are looking at a monthly price and it turns out to be billed yearly, your first invoice is four to twelve times larger than expected. Second, test the toggle yourself before trusting a savings claim. Third, decide whether you want the exit. A monthly plan costs more per month and buys you the ability to leave. ViewMade's Starter plan is the opposite case: $29 per month, monthly billing only, no yearly plan exists, at 50 renders per month or $0.58 per short. Its Pro plan cuts that to $0.2 per short but asks for a $354 yearly commitment. Choosing between those two is choosing between flexibility and unit cost, and no discount percentage changes that trade.
Fourth, compare per output, not per dollar. TubeGen is the only page in the category that publishes a real cost per delivered minute, $2.47 on its Starter plan and $2.01 on Pro, calculated from median user spend rather than a flat rate. Most other pages quote credits, and a credit buys different things on different tools, so cross-tool credit math is mostly noise.
What this does not tell you
We measured one snapshot, on 23 August 2026, in one pass per page. Prices change and several of these sellers ship weekly, so treat every figure here as dated, not current. We did not measure marketplace deals: lifetime offers sometimes appear on deal platforms, and we have not checked any of them, so we cannot say whether a genuine lifetime deal exists outside vendors' own pricing pages. We also did not measure what happens after purchase: refund behavior, price increases on renewal, or whether an annual plan grandfathered today survives a repricing next year. Those questions need longitudinal data we do not have. Finally, 7 of 24 pages were unreadable to our method, so the statement "no lifetime deals exist" applies strictly to the 17 we could read.
<!-- faq -->Frequently asked questions
Do any AI video tools actually sell lifetime deals? Not on any pricing page we could read on 23 August 2026. All 17 readable pages sold monthly or annual subscriptions. Deal marketplaces occasionally carry lifetime licenses for software, but we have not measured those listings, so we make no claim about them either way. If you find one, the burden of proof sits with the listing, not with the absence in our data.
How much does annual billing actually save? There is no single answer, because each page states its own terms. Descript states 35 percent. ViewMade's Pro plan states 50 percent. On other pages the gap is smaller: HeyGen's Creator drops from $29 to $24, Pictory's Starter from $29 to $25, Fluxnote's Rise from $10 to $8.33. Compare the two numbers on the specific plan you want instead of generalizing from any one example.
Which pricing pages can I verify without running JavaScript? In our read, Revid, Opus Clip, Descript, HeyGen, Pictory, InVideo, Faceless.so, Short.ai, Vicsee, Clippie, Virvid, Klap, Fluxnote, TubeGen, Quso and Medeo all returned complete prices from the server. StoryShort, AutoShorts, CapCut, Hooked, VEED, Vizard and Fliki did not. Submagic returned text but ambiguous columns.
Is the cheapest monthly plan the cheapest per video? No. Entry prices buy different amounts of output. Fluxnote's Rise is the lowest entry price in the set at $10 per month for 10 videos. ViewMade's Starter costs $29 for 50 shorts. Crayo's Hobby gives 50 credits for a $13 annual-billing equivalent. Without a stated cost per finished video, which only TubeGen publishes, entry price tells you almost nothing about cost per output.
