This article explains why almost no vendor in this category publishes a true text to speech cost per minute, what you can measure yourself before paying, and where our own measurements stop.

The short answer

We have not measured a per-minute TTS price for any vendor in this category, because none of the pricing pages we pulled on 23 August 2026 expose one. Vendors sell credits or subscriptions, not minutes of synthesized speech, and credit-to-minute conversion rates are either unpublished or vary by voice model. What we did measure: ViewMade charges 0.58 USD per finished Short on its Starter plan and 0.20 USD per Short on its annual Pro plan as of 22 August 2026, voiceover included. If you need a per-minute number, you will have to generate it yourself from your own usage.

Why nobody publishes a per-minute TTS price

The pricing pages in this category are built around credits, clips, videos, or flat subscriptions. On 23 August 2026 we fetched seventeen vendor pricing pages directly, without running JavaScript. Seven of them returned no usable dollar figure at all: their tiers load through client-side scripts, so the server response contains navigation and marketing copy but no numbers. Submagic's page returned over five thousand words of body text with two columns per plan and no way to tell which column was monthly and which was yearly, so we recorded it as not measured. Fliki's page returned tier names and credit counts with empty price fields.

Even where prices are readable, they describe output units, not speech minutes. Crayo's plans show credits per month and export hours. Klap sells clips, not generated audio. TubeGen is the only page in the set that publishes a real computed rate, and even that is dollars per published minute of finished video, calculated from median user spend, not a TTS quote. A vendor that bundles voiceover into a subscription has no reason to isolate the speech component, because isolating it would make comparison easier for competitors and give away margin structure.

The practical consequence: any per-minute TTS figure you find quoted for these products is either an estimate by a third party or a back-calculation from bundled pricing. Treat both with suspicion.

How to get your real per-minute cost in four steps

If you are about to pay for a tool and need the number this article cannot give you, measure it yourself. This takes under an hour.

1. Write a fixed test script. Two hundred words is enough. Use the same script across every tool you evaluate so the comparison holds.
2. Generate the audio on each tool's free tier or cheapest trial. Count the seconds of produced audio.
3. Convert your trial spend into cost per minute. If the tool bills by credits, divide credits used by the audio duration in minutes. If it bills a flat subscription, divide the monthly price by how many minutes you realistically produce per month at your volume.
4. Repeat at your real production volume. A per-minute cost at ten Shorts a month tells you nothing about the rate at fifty, because subscriptions amortize differently than pay-per-use credits.

Do this once per quarter. Vendors change models and credit tables without notice, and a rate you measured in March may be wrong in September.

If your videos are short on narration and heavy on visuals you supply yourself, a dedicated TTS service billed by character might come out cheaper, because you stop paying for rendering capacity you do not use.
