What Short.ai costs
All three rates below were read directly from short.ai/pricing on 23 August 2026. Every rate is an annual-billing figure. The page did not serve a monthly rate for any tier.

One thing to note about how the tiers are presented: all three prices are annual-commitment rates. The monthly cost of cancelling mid-year is not published on the page, so if your contract runs annually, the number above is not necessarily what leaving early costs you.
What you get for it
The Basic tier's 1,600 monthly credits map to a specific unit. Short.ai's own credit table states that a 30-second AI story video costs 20 credits. At that rate, 1,600 credits covers 80 thirty-second videos per month. The vendor claims up to 40 videos per month on the same plan, which implies either longer videos or other credit-consuming features in practice. Both numbers come from the vendor's own page; the gap between them is theirs to explain, and the page does not publish a per-video figure in dollars.
Working it out in money instead of credits:
- At the vendor-claimed 40 videos per month, Basic costs $0.475 per video ($19 ÷ 40).
- At the raw credit-table rate of 80 videos per month, it costs $0.2375 per video.
- On Pro, at the claimed 90 videos, $30 per month works out to roughly $0.33 per video.
Which figure applies to you depends entirely on how long your videos run and which features eat your credits. That is worth knowing before you decide the plan is overpriced or underused.

Two honest observations. Revid's entry price is higher than both others here, so if your complaint is purely the dollar amount, Short.ai is not the most expensive option in this category. And ViewMade's $0.58 per short is higher than Short.ai's best-case per-video figure, but it buys real archival footage rather than generated visuals, which is a different product rather than a cheaper version of the same one.
Before you cancel
Before you cancel, answer three questions with your own account data, not marketing pages. First, how many videos did you actually finish last month? If the answer is closer to 10 than 40, your effective per-video cost is double the headline rate, and that changes the argument. Second, do unused credits roll over? The pricing page does not say; that policy lives in their terms, and it determines whether stockpiling credits has any value before your final month. Third, did you pay annually? A yearly commitment means the cancellation maths involves the remaining months of your contract, not just next month's invoice. It depends on volume. At the claimed 40 videos per month, $0.475 per video for generated faceless shorts is competitive within this category. At 10 finished videos, you are paying $1.90 per video, which stops being competitive. Worth is a function of your actual output, not the sticker price.
Will I lose my unused credits if I cancel?
That is in their terms, check it. The pricing page does not state whether credits expire on cancellation, and guessing wrong either way costs you money.
Why is there no monthly rate for Short.ai?
The server returned annual rates only when we pulled short.ai/pricing on 23 August 2026. Whether a monthly option exists behind the paywall or app flow is something we could not verify from the public page.
What is the cheapest way to test an alternative without committing?
