ViewMade's Shorts strip takes a single topic sentence, researches it, writes the script, records the voiceover, and cuts it against real archive footage. The output is a finished 1080x1920 vertical Short with burned-in subtitles, measured on 22 August 2026.
What you give it
You give the Shorts strip one thing: a topic. A sentence like "The crash of Flight 4590" or "The Edmund Fitzgerald" is enough to start. The strip handles the rest of the pipeline from that input: research, script, voiceover, footage selection, subtitles, thumbnail, and upload package.
It does not take your own clips, your own script, or an existing video to rework. If you already have footage you want edited, this is not the tool for that job; see the section below on when this is not the right fit.

The media credit file ships with every render. It lists where each clip came from, so you can answer "where did that shot come from" before anyone asks.
How it works
- You submit a topic. One sentence describing the event or subject is the entire input.
- The strip researches and writes. It builds a sourced script for the topic, with claims tied to material it can show.
- It produces the video. Voiceover, real archive footage, maps, and graphics are cut into a 1080x1920 Short with word-by-word subtitles.
- You download and publish. The package includes title, description, tags, thumbnail, and the media credit file. You upload it to your channel yourself.
Where the footage comes from
This is the part that separates a documentary channel from a generated-video channel. ViewMade does not run your topic through a video model. It pulls real archive footage, maps, and charts, then licenses them for your render. Every clip in the final cut has a named source, written into the media credit file that arrives with each render. When a viewer comments asking about a shot, or when YouTube's reused-content review looks at your channel, you have a document that answers both. Generated visuals cannot do this: an AI-produced frame of a 1944 battle is not evidence of anything, and channels built on it increasingly get flagged for it. StoryShort uses web-sourced imagery and provides partial source credits, which covers some of the gap but not all of it. ViewMade's position is that a faceless history or true-crime channel lives or dies on whether its images are real, so the images are real by default and the sources are written down.

When this is not the right fit
If you already have long videos and want short clips pulled out of them, use Opus Clip. Its free tier costs $0, its Starter plan is $15 per month, and its job is finding the best moments inside footage you made, which is a different task from producing a documentary from a topic sentence. Is the footage AI-generated?

What access does it need to my YouTube account?
Read-only. The connection requests youtube.readonly only, and the access token is discarded after import. No refresh token is stored. ViewMade cannot upload, edit, delete, or comment on your channel. You publish the file yourself.
