What you give it
You give it a topic. One sentence is enough: "Why the Hindenburg used hydrogen instead of helium." The shorts strip takes that sentence, researches it against named sources, writes the script and cuts the video. It does not take an existing recording, a long video to clip, or footage you supply. If you already have raw material you want edited, this is not the tool for that job.

Where the footage comes from
This is the part that separates ViewMade from most tools in this category. The visuals are not produced by a video model. They come from real archives, maps and charts, licensed for use in your video. Every render includes a media credit file that names the source of each clip, so a viewer asking "where did that shot come from" gets an answer you can point to. For educational content this matters twice over: first because viewers trust footage of actual events more than generated approximations of them, and second because a documented source list is something you can show when someone challenges a claim. StoryShort also uses web-sourced imagery, per its own positioning, but its source credits are partial rather than full. Tools like Revid, Faceless.so and Short.ai generate their visuals, which means every frame in their output is synthetic by construction. If your channel's credibility depends on showing what actually happened, generated frames are a structural weakness, not a stylistic choice.

Two plans, both monthly only. Starter costs $29 per month and includes 50 renders, which works out to $0.58 per Short. Pro costs $59 per month or $29.50 per month billed yearly ($354 total, a 50% discount), includes 150 renders per month at $0.20 per Short, and adds 10 AI child videos per month, a priority render queue and API plus MCP access. There is no free tier and no signup credit. Production starts after successful payment. If you want to test output before paying, there is no trial path on this product.
When this is not the right fit
Three cases where this strip is the wrong answer. First, editing existing footage: if you have a recording, a podcast or a long video, Opus Clip finds clips inside long videos (free tier available, Starter $15/month) and Descript gives the most control around a recording (Hobbyist $16/month billed yearly). Second, presenting on camera without a camera: HeyGen puts an avatar presenter in front of supplied media, from $24/month billed yearly. Third, scheduled hands-off publishing: AutoShorts publishes automatically from a topic, which ViewMade does not do; ViewMade hands you a file and you publish it. Also note Fluxnote enters at $10/month, the lowest entry price in the category, though its visual source is not stated on its own site. If any of those jobs is yours, use those tools.

The YouTube connection asks for read-only permission only. The access token is discarded after import and no refresh token is stored. ViewMade cannot upload, edit, delete or comment on your channel.
Can I edit the video before publishing?
No. You receive the finished file and publish it as-is. There is no timeline editor inside ViewMade.
