What you give it

One topic. A sentence naming the subject you want explained, for example "why the Hindenburg burned" or "how the Suez Canal changed shipping." The shorts lane handles the rest: research, script, voiceover, footage selection, captions, and the thumbnail. You do not supply footage, a script, or a voice recording. If you already have those, this is not the tool for the job.

How it works

  1. You submit a topic. One sentence is enough; the lane treats it as the brief.
  2. The system researches and writes a script. The script is built from sourced material, not invented filler.
  3. The system selects real footage, maps, and graphics. It cuts the video against the script and adds word-by-word captions.
  4. You download the package. The file, metadata, thumbnail, and credits arrive together, and you publish it yourself.

Where the footage comes from

The shorts lane does not generate its visuals with a video model. It draws from real archive footage, maps, and graphs, then licenses what it uses. Every render ships with a media credits file that names the source of each clip, so you can check what appeared on screen and where it came from. This matters for explainers: a claim about a historical event lands differently over a genuine archival frame than over a generated approximation of one. It also matters for your channel. If a viewer or a platform asks where a shot came from, the credits file answers. Tools that generate visuals cannot offer this, because the footage did not exist before the render.

When this is not the right fit

If you already have footage and need it cut into shorts, use Opus Clip, which finds clips inside a long video you already made. Does ViewMade need access to my YouTube channel?

It requests read-only permission (youtube.readonly) to import. The access token is discarded after import and no refresh token is stored. ViewMade cannot upload, edit, delete, or comment on your channel.
